Last Minute Assistance from IRS

WASHINGTON - Waiting until the last minute tax to file your tax return? You can still get assistance from the Internal Revenue Service this weekend. Tax assistors will staff IRS's toll-free telephone lines (1-800-829-1040) from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13. TeleTax recorded tapes on about 150 tax topics are available 24 hours a day at 1-800-829-4477.

Taxpayers who find they need a form at the last minute have a number of options. Those with Internet access can download forms from IRS's homepage (http://www.irs.gov). Taxpayers who have a fax machine may use the voice unit to call 703-487-4160 (not toll-free) and request forms by fax. Also, most post offices and libraries have either actual or reproducible forms.
