Chairman Roth Announces Witness List for
Tomorrow's IRS Hearing

WASHINGTON -- Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R DE), today announced the final witness list for Wednesday's hearing on proposals to restructure the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Testimony will be heard from management experts and IRS employee representatives.

As previously announced, the hearing will occur on Wednesday, February 25, 1998, in room 215 Dirksen, beginning at 10 am. The following witnesses are scheduled to testify:

Panel #1
Mr. Paul C. Light, Director, Public Policy Program, The Pew Charitable Trusts.
Dr. Ronald P. Sanders, Associate Professor of Public Administration, The George Washington University.
Mr. Thomas Stanton, Academy Fellow and Vice-Chair of Standing Panel on Executive Organization and Management, accompanied by Mr. Herbert Jasper, Academy Fellow, National Academy of Public Administration.

Panel #2
Mr. G. Jerry Shaw, General Counsel, Senior Executives Association.
Mr. Robert M. Tobias, President, National Treasury Employees Union.
Mr. Ray Woolner, National President, Professional Managers Association.

Written Statements:
Any individuals or organizations wanting to present their views on this hearing to the Committee are urged to submit a typewritten, single-spaced statement, not exceeding 10 pages in length, for inclusion in the hearing record. The date and subject of the hearing must appear on the first page of the statement. Five copies of the statement should be mailed to the Editorial Section, United States Senate, Committee on Finance, Washington, D.C. 20510, and also to Mr. Mark A. Patterson, Minority Staff Director, United States Senate, Committee on Finance, Washington D.C. 20510. Statements must be received no later than noon on March 13, 1998. Written statements must also be submitted on diskette in a format that can be read by personal computers (plain ASCII text is preferred; other formats will be accepted -- please identify format).
