IRS Names Schwartz Director for Tax Forms and Publications
WASHINGTON - Sheldon D. Schwartz is appointed the director for
tax forms and publications for the Internal Revenue Service.
In this position Schwartz directs the development or revision of
all public use federal tax return forms and instructions used in the
administration of the federal tax laws. He is responsible for the
writing of taxpayer information publications which communicate in
layman's language the rules of complex tax laws. He serves as
advisor to the chief, strategic planning and communications.
Schwartz began his IRS career in 1971 as a revenue agent in New
York. He served as an examination group manager in Portsmouth N.H.,
and transferred to Washington, D.C. in 1984 to become chief,
individual tax forms section. In 1989 he was selected as chief,
review section in the forms and publications division, and was named
assistant director in 1992, the position he held until this
appointment.
A native of White Plains, N.Y., Schwartz earned a bachelor's
degree in accounting from Bryant College in Providence, R.I.
