IRS Awards Information Support Contracts
The Internal Revenue Service awarded 12 contracts today for
information processing support services for the Department of
Treasury. The contracts, awarded under the Treasury Information
Processing Support Services (TIPPS) procurement, each have the
potential for $200 million, though the ceiling of the entire TIPPS
procurement is $995 million. This ceiling includes the small
business set-aside portion awarded last September.
Andersen Consulting of Washington, DC; Booz, Allen & Hamilton,
Inc. of McLean, Va.; Computer Sciences Corp. of Falls Church, Va.;
CTA Inc. of Rockville, Md.; Dynamics Research Corp. of Andover,
Mass.; DynCorp of Fairfax, Va.; Grumman Technical Services, Inc. of
Titusville, Fla.; Logicon Eagle Technology of Arlington, Va.;
Science Applications International Corp. of Oak Ridge, Tenn.;
Systems Research and Applications Corp. of Arlington, Va.; Unisys
Corp. of McLean, Va.; and Vector Research, Inc. of Ann Arbor, Mich.
each received a one-year contract with four one-year options to
support the IRS's ongoing systems modernization effort.
The contracts provide for a broad range of software and
hardware support services in the areas of information systems
services, information engineering services, telecommunications and
security services, technical financial services, federal information
processing acquisition services and socio-technical services.
While the IRS is expected to be the primary user of the
contract, it will also be available to Treasury and its other
bureaus.
The TIPPS procurement contracts are the first IRS has awarded
based on the "reward for past performance" concept in line with Vice
President Gore's National Performance Review. Under this concept,
all companies were awarded identical contracts, and will receive
work based on their performance.
